Brow and Lash Tinting: What to Know Before You Book

Tinting is one of the quietest upgrades in beauty. It takes only a few minutes, it costs very little, and it saves you reaching for a brow pencil or mascara every morning. If you have never had it done, here is what to expect.

The idea is simple. A gentle dye is applied to your brow or lash hairs to darken them, so they read fuller and more defined without any makeup. The colour is matched to your natural tone and what suits your face, so it looks like your own brows on a good day rather than anything drawn on. The whole thing is comfortable, and you keep your eyes closed and relax while it develops.

Before your first tint we do a patch test. A small amount of product is placed behind the ear or on the inner arm a day or two ahead so we can check your skin does not react. It is a small step and worth it, especially if you have sensitive skin or have reacted to products in the past.

Results last around four to six weeks on brows and a little less on lashes, fading gradually rather than dropping off suddenly. Aftercare is easy. Avoid heavy rubbing, oil based cleansers, and long steamy showers on the tinted area for the first day, as these speed up fading. After that, treat the area as normal.

Tinting pairs beautifully with a brow shape or a facial, and combining saves both time and money. If you are heading to an event, book two or three days ahead rather than the morning of, so the colour has settled and you have time for the patch test. Come in, close your eyes, and walk out looking a little more put together.
